Last night I went to bed, turned the light off and usually we are plunged into darkness, but last night was a full moon and clear skies. It felt like we’d left a light on somewhere.
This morning I was woken up by moonlight flooding into the bedroom and blinding me! Really unusual.
Tonight the moon illuminated my way home and I spent a great half hour playing with my dslr camera to shoot the moon. The sky wasn’t completely clear with high clouds fairly racing along to create all sorts of weird and ghostly shapes. The moon shone through and also had a halo effect which I think has something to do with refraction and ice crystals in high thin cloud. Anyway, the edges of the halo tinged the clouds with blues and oranges reminiscent of those pictures of star nebula nurseries. The focus on the pictures could have been better, but it adds to the atmosphere.
